Women Empowerment

IPER Women’s Programme

Aparajita – A couple of years back a group of women approached IPER and expressed interest to learn English and Bengali, for which classes have been started. They formed a group of their own named it Aparajita the invincible. The aim was to support the women, most of whom work as domestic help and casual worker and build of self-confidence and self-reliance. They regularly come together in the group to discuss important topics, support one another, and strengthen the bond amongst themselves. These meetings provided a safe and nurturing space for women to connect, share their experiences and gain valuable insights that can help them in their lives. These meetings organised two days a week aim to empower mothers with knowledge and skills that can enhance their lives and the well-being of their families; provide opportunities for personal growth and development, learn new skills and pursue what they desire to do. Sessions were taken on communication and parenting. Women learnt the art of paper quilling and made greeting cards. They were taught to make paper bags. They participated in making ‘rakhi’. They worked on ‘mehendi’. They also were taught recreational activities like Zumba, singing, recitation.
