Welfare Programme for Street Children

IPER is also implementing the Welfare Project for the street children under the Ministry of Welfare, Government of India. Under this project children are given the basic needs like education, health care and nutritional supplementation along with the objects daily need to 300 children.

IPER Drop-In Centre: Sishu Patha Nilay -A Resting Resort for Street Children

The typical street children live a fairly hectic life while doing one or more odd jobs like rag-picking, hawking, working as a porter or cart pusher. Tragically there is usually no place where they can go and spend their free time gainfully. To meet the need of these children IPER had set-up a drop-in centre for children named Sishu Patha Nilay which is a two-room accommodation near Ballygunge railway station.

International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC)

IPEC is an action programme designed by the ILO to protect working children to combat and eliminate child labour. The target group included parents, employers and the public in order to motivate them to stop employing children.

Integrated Programme for Street Children

With the support of Ministry of Women & Child Development a project on Street Children was
set up in 1999 in the 8 KMC Wards of Kolkata, to prevent destitution amongst the street children and facilitate their placement in the social mainstream for their full and wholesome development. Children were provided with education, nutrition and health care

Combating Child Abuse & Trafficking Through Education & Protection

GOAL India, Ireland supported IPER for combating child abuse & trafficking through education & protection. Working with 200 children in 3 KMC Wards Child Protection Committees were formed, children were mainstreamed with remedial education, and awareness on child abuse and trafficking in the community.

CHILDLINE

24×7 Helpline 1098 was run by IPER since 1999 with fund from CIF GoI, as a Support organization for south Kolkata. In 2021 another major work was taken up in Esplanade bus station. Both were closed on 15 th September 2023 when the programme was handed over to the State government.

Dance Movement Therapy

Children especially girls were taught in collaboration with Kolkata Sanved.

Theatre Workshop

too were conducted as a therapeutic programme for different project children.
